Second Ammendment of the U.S. Constitution:
Right to bear arms
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Look at it this way; this has nothing to do with the National Guard – did not exist when this was written. The founders understood that a government with absolute control would control aboslutely. The militia, being neccessary then, to provide security, could in fact be abused by order of the government; this abuse is unchecked – UNLESS – the people have the ability to protect themselves from such abuse. The PEOPLE are the militia here!
